Methodology

I’m a Black-Asian; Japanese-Diola designer and researcher with a political and creative upbringing nurtured in New York City. These days, I am living a quiet life in Aarhus, Denmark.

There are many ways to investigate our social and political realities. As a practice-led researcher, I use material inquiry, facilitation, writing, and teaching to explore how creative practitioners produce knowledge about our contemporary realities. You can see what this looks like here, how I do it here, and the knowledge produced from it here.

I began formally training and studying as a designer at age 16, twenty years ago. Since then, I have been teaching, mentoring, publishing, and working as an interior, product, visual, interaction, and transdisciplinary designer across fields and industries. I hold an MFA in Transdisciplinary Design from Parsons School of Design and a PhD in Design Research from Monash University’s Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture (2018–2021).
