Fundraiser (Senior Freelancer)
This is a 12-week, 10–15 hours/week freelance role focused on direct fundraising execution.

Nordic Otherwise is a small organization with an ambitious mission: to build an independent international school in Aarhus for advanced practitioners in architecture, design, visual arts, writing, and performance. We are in an early building phase, creating the structures and partnerships that will shape the institution's future.
So far, the founder of Nordic Othewise, Myriam Diatta, secured ~500,000 DKK from the Nordic Culture Fund and Arts Council Norway, enabling a pilot run of the course (2025) and a research and development phase (2026) which has resulted in an annual budget, case studies, structured course program for a series of 1-month courses, a school website, and a preliminary list of qualified funding sources. The curriculum is based on research the founder conducted at Monash University (Melbourne) and has been disseminated through a book published with Set Margins (Netherlands) which is distributed internationally, and an international book tour. We are now entering a fundraising phase aimed at laying the initial groundwork for approximately ~2,5M DKK in funding to sustain operations for the first 18 months to launch and operate the school.
What you will do
- Quickly review and absorb existing materials and funding narrative
- Turn existing materials into proposals, emails, letters, grant applications, pitches, etc.
- Reach out to foundations, institutions, and major donors (limited volume, strong qualification)
- Book and follow up on meetings
- Keep a simple, active pipeline of contacts and progress
- Work one-on-one with founder
Deliverables
- Meetings held with decision-makers or relevant staff
- Convert prospects into active funding processes with defined parameters (amount range, purpose, timeline)
- Advance active funding processes to pre-commitment stage (with written interest signals, internal circulation, and expected close paths)
- Clear mapping of prospects, progress, and notes
What we are looking for
- 5–7 years fundraising experience in non-profit, culture and education fields
- Highly execution-focused, independent, and persistent
- Strong track record in fundraising through grants, major gifts, family foundations, corporate foundations, and public funding sources
- Experience in both Danish and international fundraising environments
- Fluent in Danish and English
Compensation
Fixed fee of DKK 45,000 (incl. VAT/moms) plus performance-based compensation linked to results
