I’m Black-Asian (Japanese-Diola) with a political and creative upbringing nurtured in New York City. These days I am living a quiet life in Aarhus, Denmark. I spend my time bouldering, sewing to fill my wardrobe, and attempting ikebana flower arrangement.

In my work life, I’m an independent researcher and designer with ten years of training and experience. My practice involves conceptual projects, critical writing, and facilitation. ︎ My vision is / for those of us contributing to the project of liberation / through conceptual and artistic means / to be supported with radical tactics, abundance, and tenderness. The collaborations I hold most dearly are with folks working towards moving softly, reflectively, and with accountability

THE LOITERING HOLE
Community
An online community for respite from the white gaze
2020

“The Loitering Hole is made to catch you during burnout, be relief from explaining your existence, and as respite from the white gaze. This is a community made by and exclusively for Black, Indigenous, and/or folks of color and lives on Slack (a chat platform). It’s a place to undo dominating ideologies and problematic ways of showing up. Within the larger project of re-making the world we live in, this is one place on the internet to build, care-give, heal, storytell, guide, and disrupt.

Our name is a play on two concepts: a communal watering hole and the act of loitering. To loiter is to stay in a public area for no ‘apparent’ reason—it is racialized through the policing of Black, Indigenous, and folks of color who are idle, sticking around, or catching up. The Loitering Hole is a place for us to nourish and stay when told to go.”

Community co-founded by Ayra Digma, Emma Nguyen, Hillary Nguyen, Yinka Fasehun, and Myriam Diatta.
